Ghent University is a top 100 university and one of the major universities in Belgium. Its programme in Applied Language Studies is designed for students who wish to acquire an in-depth knowledge of two foreign languages and Dutch, are fascinated by intercultural communication and translation and wish to discover the latest in language and translation technology. It consists of an in-depth study of the chosen languages, along with a number of general subjects designed to scientifically underpin the study programme (e.g. Economics, Translation Studies, Intercultural Communication, Language Technology). The seven foreign languages to choose from are German, English and French, which can each be combined with Italian, Russian, Spanish or Turkish. Upon gaining the academic Bachelor of Arts in Applied Language Studies, students can go on to study the Master of Arts in Translation, Interpreting or Multilingual Communication.
