SubtitleNEXT reinforces Media accessibility in pilot Educational Course

SubtitleNEXT adopted by Listen Up and NBU to help hearing impaired gain wider access to AV content

Sofia, Bulgaria, 6 February 2019  –  Imagine having limited access to news platforms, talk show programmes, native language films and your favourite TV series?

There are over 120, 000 hearing-impaired people in Bulgaria today that are in this isolating position and shut out from participating in every day communications that most of us take for granted.

As a part of a collective Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative for 2019, the creators and distributors of the SubtitleNEXT technology, PBT EU and Profuz Digital, are delighted to announce that they are joining forces to sponsor and partner with the “Listen Up” foundation and New Bulgarian University (NBU).

Both companies will provide pro-bono support to the foundation and university to help a worthy cause that aims to open up much wider media access to the hearing impaired. They will be involved in the first-ever professional course of its kind, specifically designed to train up transcribers and live captionists to national broadcast standards that will bring enormous subtitling benefits to many individuals with hearing difficulties.

As part of the PBT EU team leading the project, Alexander Stoyanov confirms, “We thank everyone supporting this noble cause. We are proud that our flagship product SubtitleNEXT will make a major contribution in opening up a new world for a significant part of society that has not had full access to content for quite some time.”

Founder & chairperson at the Listen Up Foundation, Ashod Derandonyan states, “PBT EU and Profuz Digital are a fine example of dynamic companies that are fully committed to the Rights of Equal Access to audio-visual content for the Deaf and hard of hearing and are taking positive action with tangible strategies to see change in this area. We welcome their passion and support.”

Lecturer at NBU Amelia Mareva adds, “SubtitleNEXT is an innovative and well-established software, which offers subtitlers of the future powerful subtitling and timed text toolsets that help professionals to sustain development in this field. It’s a proven and trusted product with over 20 years of industry expertise behind it. It is managed by a highly motivated team who are driven to provide industry professionals with the very best technology. Their ethos is reflected in how they equip experts in the field to make a positive difference in people’s lives. That is why we are proud to adopt technology like SubtitleNEXT in our department at NBU.”

Profuz Digital’s partner PBT EU launches Timed-Text hybrid platform NEXT-TT at IBC2018

Demonstrations feature European debut of NEXT-TT & EXEcutor™ Media Integrator

IBC Stand 9.LP35, IBC Show, The RAI, Amsterdam, 14 – 18 September 2018

IBC2018 sets the scene for the European premiere of new Timed-Text hybrid platform NEXT-TT powered by Profuz Digital from global systems integration specialists PBT EU. PBT EU will also showcase the EXEcutor™ Media Integrator module, already adopted by major telecom operators. Demonstrations will take place at PBT EU’s dedicated Launch Pad 9.LP35 at the show, from 14 – 18 September in Amsterdam.

The complete NEXT-TT solution is comprised of two distinct elements that work together as a single, unified platform: Profuz LAPIS (Limitless Advanced Powerful and Intelligent System) with timed-text subtitling software application SubtitleNEXT. The fusion has resulted in new capabilities enabling extremely fast and efficient generation of managing timed-text, dubbing and localization services of any type of content, or managing teams of translators, audiovisual professionals, and creative freelancers, providing an ultra-secure and super-fast private workspace, toolsets, and workflows for ensuring quality.

NEXT-TT has already attracted the attention of leading Hollywood studios and quickly gaining a reputation as a gamechanger in subtitling. This unique approach is designed to give users greater freedom of choice in how they work with desktop or cloud applications. SubtitleNEXT and LAPIS can also be used separately bringing the best of both worlds to subtitlers. (https://subtitlenext.com/product-line/platform/)

LAPIS is a central hub that brings disparate data services that media companies use under one roof. It manages complex processes, tasks, video, audio, text, user access, security, and safeguards confidential material. It has the ability to access and search data across many providers such as YouTube, Vimeo, stock image libraries, internal media asset storage systems and customer relationship data bases.

NEXT-TT is user-friendly, innovative, customizable, intuitive and affordable already adopted across various multimedia industries and is designed for both personal and professional use. It easily adapts to any settings, resolutions, and formats such as AR, MR, XR, VR, 8K, 4K, 2K, HD, SD, 3D, UHD across online video, TV, film, theater, concerts, festivals, conferences and events. It can be applied throughout the entire video production process from concept to distribution.

PBT EU partnered with Italy’s IT Pros Subtitles® this year to create the first remote online course for translators to learn subtitling skills based on SubtitleNEXT. The initial training module, along with other brands, went ahead recently run by IT Pros’ most experienced subtitler Monica Paolillo who trained a group of translation professionals to master the software. In addition, the recent launch of a new website www.subtitlenext.com has been labelled as the “Home of Subtitlers” and a NEXTClub members community is growing around the product, with a new e-shop that opened in time for NAB earlier this year. https://shop.profuzdigital.com

Profuz Digital and PBT EU will also support the Languages & The Media 2018 Conference in Berlin in October with its flagship platform NEXT-TT logo proudly displayed as official Silver Sponsor product of the show, alongside STAR, Netflix and VSI.

After just providing solutions to Videohouse, the largest production house in the Benelux region, PBT EU’s sales director Alexander Stoyanov comments, “2018 marks another year of massive penetration and expansion of diversified timed-text services followed by content and process management systems. Our main emphasis for this IBC combines both trends and all visitors can enjoy the European debut of the NEXT-TT hybrid platform, announced at NAB a few months ago.”
